With more than 25 years of PBM leadership experience, Dave Skomo has a well-earned reputation for maximizing quality, satisfaction and efficiency to deliver exceptional results. As Chief Operating Officer, he has a deep understanding of pharmacy benefit management and health plan services, with a focus on maximizing client outcomes, optimizing key resources and achieving results that benefit clients and plan members.
Prior to joining CastiaRx, Dave was SVP, Chief Pharmacy Officer for OptumRx pharmacy operations, with operational leadership responsibility for BriovaRx regional pharmacy locations across the United States. Earlier in his career, Dave was instrumental in building the Thrift Drug and Eckerd specialty pharmacy, which became part of CVS/PharmaCare in 2004. Within the CVS/PharmaCare organization, Dave became Director of Operations and managed 14 pharmacies in ten states and Puerto Rico. As CVS and Caremark merged, he was also responsible for providing centralized business-support services to the specialty pharmacy business organization where his focus was to understand business challenges and provide guidance and expertise to enable technology-based solutions.
Dave earned his Bachelor of Science degree in pharmacy from Duquesne University. He is a licensed pharmacist in the State of Pennsylvania.
With responsibility for leading new business development, Mike McGinnity leverages 14+ years of executive-level experience in the PBM, pharmacy technology and clinical services industries. He oversees all aspects of the sales process to achieve successful client acquisition and onboarding.
Mike strives to create lasting relationships with clients, colleagues and industry partners while building an environment that allows him to stake his reputation and character on the commitments made on behalf of the organization. In past roles, Mike has gained comprehensive knowledge and experience while supporting self-funded employer groups, labor, public sector, TPA, PBM, rebate only, mail service carve out, specialty carve out, MCOs and state-sponsored Medicaid clients.
Prior to joining CastiaRx in 2018, Mike was Vice President of Sales and Marketing at Auburn, AL-based Health Information Designs. Before that, he was a key leadership team member of Innoviant, Inc., a central Wisconsin-based PBM that was acquired by United Health Group in 2008 and eventually became OptumRx. Mike earned his Bachelor’s of Science degree in Chemical Engineering at the University Of Wisconsin-Madison.
As VP, Client Operations, Jim Watson is passionate about forming and driving successful client relationships. He leads and directs the CastiaRx account managers to ensure that client goals are met, costs are managed and plans are well positioned with actionable insights for the future. His team is also responsible for delivering a smooth, accurate client implementation focused on set-up activities, quality assurance, strategic operations guidance and continued process improvement to ensure client satisfaction.
Jim has been in the healthcare and insurance industries for 20+ years, providing leadership, developing strategic approaches and leveraging technology to create quality, innovative solutions to client, business and technical needs. He brings more than 12 years in pharmacy benefit management, including his role as Director, Industry Relations at Catamaran, before leading Business Development and Planning at OptumRx, where his team defined business requirements for home delivery, specialty, home infusion and prior authorization. Prior to that, Jim was Director of Operations Support at Viant, where he was responsible for payment solutions and cost containment strategies.
Not afraid to challenge the status quo, Jim holds a patent for a software program that provides consumers with online, multiple product quotes. Jim holds a Bachelor of Science degree in Computer Science, College of Engineering, University of Illinois Urbana-Champaign.
With a background leading process improvement, Kirk Curtis is well equipped to provide the strategic direction, operational expertise and coaching to elevate the CastiaRx Contact Center to a best-in-class category. Service has long been Kirk’s passion as he draws from 25 years of operations experience, including 16 years in PBM, leading contact center teams as large as 1,100+ employees.
Kirk joined Diplomat in 2018 and led the build-out of the Chandler, AZ specialty pharmacy. He transitioned into his leadership role overseeing the CastiaRx Contact Center in March 2019. Prior to joining the company, Kirk spent 16 years at CVS Health. With 25 years of corporate leadership experience, he has successfully led large-scale initiatives to enable greater levels of client satisfaction, as well as to improve efficiencies and lower costs. Kirk has worked in banking, technology distribution products and services, and petroleum marketing. He has led teams responsible for delivering support to both clients and customers and, within the healthcare space, to providers in a clinical setting.
Kirk holds a Bachelor’s degree in Information Technology from Western International University and a Master’s in Technology Management from the University of Phoenix.
Cornell Beck has a strong leadership background with 20 years of broad-based experience and academic credentials in healthcare settings. He has managed high-performing teams and P&L responsibilities across a range of pharmacy benefit management and product-related solutions, including prior authorization management, formulary and rebate management, EMR, drug adherence and real-time claims adjudication.
Lean Six Sigma and process improvement methodologies are among Cornell’s strengths that position organizations to meet changing paradigms of customers in the healthcare marketplace. Prior to joining CastiaRx, he was Sr. Business Process Clinical Group Leader with DST Pharmacy Solutions (previously Argus Health). Prior to that, he was Director, Service Center for Gateway Health, a managed care health plan; Director, Contact Center Operations for Aspen Dental Management, a provider of dental and denture management services; and Sr. Manager, Business Process Planning and Analysis for Express Scripts.
Cornell holds an MBA in Business Administration and Human Resource Management from the University of Missouri-Kansas City (UMKC).
Valerie Woerndle is responsible for the overall strategy and execution of key activities that strengthen pharmacy plans and support members’ health. Drawing from 25+ years of experience, she works to identify client savings opportunities, promote best practices and develop innovative approaches. As a clinical resource, she ensures that plans are able to drive savings with safe and clinically appropriate medication utilization for their members.
With experience that spans a wide range of healthcare settings, Valerie has been instrumental in hospital clinical and management roles, pharmacy benefit management, pain management and workers’ compensation drug utilization management for companies such as Express Scripts, Cardinal Health Pharmacy Management and SSM DePaul Health Center.
Valerie received her B.S in Pharmacy from the St. Louis College of Pharmacy and is a member of the American College of Clinical Pharmacy. She is a Board Certified Pharmacotherapy Specialist.
